Why do you run?

I am passionate about health and fitness.  Running keeps me feeling strong and fit.  I love the running community, the relationships I’ve built and the example I am setting for my children.  It also does wonders for my mental health, keeping me balanced and calm. Long runs leave me happily exhausted, such a good feeling!

Describe your best marathon memory.

Wineglass Marathon 2018.  I ran with the 3:15 pace group, which seemed overambitious at the start (my PR at this point was 3:23), but I was going for it.  The pacer was so funny and energetic, the miles flew by.  At mile 22 I took off and finished in 3:13. The entire race I felt strong and within my capabilities. It was life changing, which I will explain if you join my pace group!

Why do you pace?

Most importantly I enjoy helping others reach their goals.  Also, it gives me the chance to enjoy a marathon without “racing”.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

Pacing my oldest son in his second half marathon (Pittsburgh 2017) was incredible! He was 16 at the time.  I was so proud!

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I’m full of good stories to share! You will know way too much about me by the end of your race, but hopefully it will distract you from some discomfort!

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Stick to your plan. Don’t make the mistake of going out hot early in the race.  We’ve all done it before and suffered the inevitable blow up.
