A quotation you likeā€¦

"Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you'd better be running."

Personal goals

Break 2:30marathon, be running when I am 80. Complete the Big 5 Major Marathons.

Why do you run?

Liberation and stress relief. Plus, when you PR and run strong, the satisfication and knowing that you hit your goal.

Describe your best marathon memory.

The left hand turn onto Boyleston st with 1k to go at Boston. As much as I hurt, I could not stop smiling.

Why do you pace?

The joy I get when helping others accomplish their goals. Knowing, I helped make their PR or Boston Qualifing or just finishing a reality.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

Pacing my friend Marianne to a 1:28 at the Denver Half in 2009. When she broke 1:30 for the first time, it was very special to her and I was glad I was there to help. She was worried in the beginning that she would not make it or slow down too much, but I just reinforced to her the excellent training and how it might hurt, but it will feel great when we finish.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

Besides being an even pacer and good runner, I help provide the motivation and important distraction so they become confident they will succeed.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Trust in your training. The work has been done. On race morning, just relax and let it flow.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I make sure to volunteer at a few races every year. When I race, I am so thankful for the people that help out and give up their time so I can have a fun race, I want to make sure that I give back to the running community as well.
