Why do you run?

I like the rhythm of my breathing and footsteps.  It clears my head after work

Describe your best marathon memory.

Running through the streets of Paris on my 50th birthday

Why do you pace?

It’s inspirational to watch people finish their first marathon or half, or to achieve a PR

Tell us your best pacing experience.

A woman finished her first half marathon and started to cry. I gave her the pace stick and she insisted I be in a photo with her family.  I’ve had people come up to me at other races and say “You helped me through the half marathon last year”

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I’m a good natural pacer and like to talk.  Since I’ve been running in the area a long time I get a lot of support from the spectators.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

If you have to choose between 2 pace groups, pick the slower one.  You can always pick up the pace if you’re feeling good.  Don’t eat, drink, wear or do anything different from your usual routine the night before the race.  Stop at the first 4-5 water stations even if you don’t feel thirsty.
