Why do you run?

I run so that I can eat what I want.

Describe your best marathon memory.

Running the New York City Marathon my first time in 2002.  It was my first trip to New York and it was amazing to run through all 5 boroughs amid over 2 million spectators.

Why do you pace?

I enjoy interacting with other runners and talking about various marathons that we have ran.  I also enjoy seeing them accomplish their time goal.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

I once paced a friend of mine in a half marathon.  It was only his 2nd half marathon and his goal was 1:55.  I made sure we kept a steady pace and even pushed a little the last couple of miles to make sure we accomplished our goal.  We finished in 1:54:30.  After the race he thanked me and said he could not have  done it had I not pushed him along.  That was very rewarding to hear him say that.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I have a lot of experience and enjoy interacting with the runners.  I will encourage them along the way as they find it more and more difficult to keep the pace.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Make sure to take in plenty of fluid and gels even if you don’t think you need to.  Most importantly enjoy the experience.  No matter your finishing time you are accomplishing something most people are too afraid to even attempt.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I’m a huge sports fan.  I enjoy talking about any sport.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I enjoy helping out with my son’s Cub Scout Den.
