Why do you run?

I started running almost 30 years ago to help lose weight.  I needed to lose 40 lbs.  I couldn’t make it one time around a track and there was no indication that I had any talent for running at all.  Today, I love to run and use it to overall health and wellness.  I plan my week around when and where I will run.

Describe your best marathon memory.

pacing my daughter through her first marathon and the 30 miles she paced me at Western States.

Why do you pace?

It’s great to help first timers and experienced runners alike accomplish their goals.

Explain why should someone run in your pace group?

I don’t have super human qualities which is what makes me a good pacer.  My first marathon was a train wreck.  I needed a pace team myself.  After a great 16 miles, I had a nice 10 mile meltdown.  Finishing in 4:13.  Six weeks later with a great knowledge of pacing myself, I finished the Houston marathon in 3:21.  Since then I’ve been very steady in my own racing.  I’m most please that my marathon average time over the past 25 years (about 50 marathons) is 3:30.

Running tips for runners about to join your group.

Have fun.  The training is over, just create a memory.
