A quotation you like…

Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right

Why do you run?

I enjoy it, it’s great “me” time and it’s my way of being competitive with myself

Describe your best marathon memory.

During my first full marathon, the Half and Full participants ran together until Mile 8, then the Full Marathoners split to the left and I remember getting emotional as I went to the left thinking “I’m all grown up now”.

Why do you pace?

As much as I love reaching new goals for myself, I absolutely enjoy helping others reach goals and being there to get them through the tough times, and celebrate with them when they finish.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

I’t was SO incredible.  Had over 50 people in my group and most were first time Half Marathoners and had a few that stayed right by me through the entire race and I feel like we’ll be friends for life.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

They will have fun, be motivated and encouraged and will HIT THEIR GOAL.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Plan to enjoy the race!  I’ll tell everyone they may hear me talking or singing during the race so I will keep them entertained!

Anything else you’d like to share?

I used to run in the mid ‘90’s mainly 5k’s, then stopped in 1996, and gained a lot of weight, so in 12/2008 I took control of my health and started running again, dropped 40 lbs and went from size 14 to 4 in 9 months and have kept it off for over two years now.  Haven’t stopped running and keep setting goals!  Was featured in July 2011 issue of First for Women magazine about my weight loss and will be featured in the December 2011 of Ebony magazine about my weight loss.  Enjoy helping others now.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I unofficially coach people toward their first Half Marathon and 5k’s, as well as in general weight loss.
