What are you reading now?

The Three Body Problem – Cixin Liu

Although I mostly read Fantasy / Science Fiction novels (Terry Brooks, Isaac Asimov), when Covid hit I wrote down the 25 greatest novels of all time and decided to read them during the pandemic. I got through 7, lol : )

Who do you train with?

I am usually alone when I run, but in the gym I train with my son. Sadly, the gap in our max strength is increasing. Oh to be 20 again….

Personal goals

To be one of the “good guys”…

A quotation you like…

Life’s a Journey, not a Destination! - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Why do you run?

For me, running is more an exercise in emotional well-being than a true aerobic fitness improver. I have no idea what my VO2 max is, but I have solved most of the world’s problems during training runs : )…

Describe your best marathon memory.

Running Boston wearing my Buffalo Sabres jersey (Rasmus Dahlin). I was getting heckled by the Bruins fans along the street and slapping “high-5’s” with the Sabres fans at every turn. It might have slowed my time down a bit, but everyone had a comment. It was soooo fun!!!

Why do you pace?

The Comradery. Meeting people, hearing their stories, being part of their first, or last, marathon and sharing laughs makes the grueling 21st mile all worth it! …And maybe I can help create a memory for them as well.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

TBD

Why should someone run in your pace group?

Although reaching the finish line seems the ultimate goal, it’s how you get there that really matters. We have a fun, low stress, supportive, group that tries to reach that goal together. And maybe a few smiles along the way…

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

Exhale, you’re gonna do great!!!

Anything else you’d like to share?

Remember, you’ve trained, you’ve thought about it, and you’re ready (even if you don’t think so). The marathon itself is much easier than the training runs!

What philanthropic activities do you have?

One of my favorite life adventures was traveling to the base of the Amazon in northern Peru and performing ophthalmic surgeries on unfortunate people of the Achuar tribes who have no real access to health care. Giving lifechanging surgery to those who need it makes you realize what’s actually important in this world.
