Why do you run?
|
I started running to lose weight following 10 years of relative inactivity. After connecting with local running groups, the social interaction has become amazingly rewarding and encouraging.

For several years, one of my female running partners had been trying to qualify for Boston. We spent months training for her BQ attempt in Cleveland 2013. She needed a 3:40:00 to qualify, so we planned a negative split pace. Mile by mile, the heat and wind started to take its’ toll. As the finish approached, we calculated a very tight finish. Carol crossed at 3:40:00.0… without one second to spare.

Why should someone run in your pace group?
|
I’ve probably made every mistake and had every issue a runner can have, so personal experience is the basis of my support. I read a lot and study the factors that affect a racer, including course and weather. It’s critical to have a good rasp of what’s going on during each event.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

We’re all in this together. If you’ve done the training and prepared properly, it will be a very enjoyable race. If things don’t go smoothly, we can always discuss your best options to prevent injury or a bad experience.

Anything else you’d like to share? |
The best advice someone gave me during a race I was resigned to quit: “Don’t give up on your body too soon, it always has a little more to give”. I finished strong!
