Why do you run?
I love how it gets me away from everything; how I can experience all of the seasons and be with people just talking or not; it is definitely a stress reliever and has opened the door to many friendships |

Why do you pace?
I love cheering people on but also being part of the action instead of on the side lines |

Finishing the Madison Half-marathon wearing my pink tiara and cheering in my group |
Why should someone run in your pace group?
I’m the best cheerleader there is. I love to talk, have been running for years, know the course and a lot of people so I’ll get others to cheer you on too1 |
Any tips for runners about to join your group?
Stay relaxed and think of the day as just another experience you will be able to talk about for years to come. |

Anything else you’d like to share? |
I am no longer just a runner having run for 30+ years. I started biking and swimming 4 years ago and LOVE the variety that triathlon training and competing provide. I did my first and last Ironman in Madison in 2008 and placed 2nd in my age group. It was such a fun day – coming across the finish line after 12 hours and 9 minutes and hearing them say “Shirley Crocker you are an IronMan was totally amazing!” |
