Why do you run?

Running is my way to decompress. It is my alone time, when I’m able to think freely, and just enjoy my surroundings.

Describe your best marathon memory.

When I qualified for Boston, and ran my PR at Erie Marathon my friend Hudson ran the whole race with me. He was so encouraging, and would remind me to check my form periodically. Everything went exactly as planned. We ended up running negative splits, and I beat my “A” goal by 16 seconds.

Why do you pace?

I love helping others achieve their goals. I have been very blessed by having people help me reach my goals, so it seems only fitting that I give back to the sport I love so much.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

My favorite pacing experiences have been helping people complete their first marathons. It never gets old seeing the look on someone’s face when they realize that they just completed a marathon.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I will help keep you entertained and on pace. Be prepared for random outbursts of singing, bad jokes & movie quotes.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

The amount of effort you put into your training will pay off on race day. Once you reach the starting line, try to relax and have fun. Running a marathon is a life changing experience. Enjoy every step of the journey and be proud of your accomplishment.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I’m a mom of 4 young kids. I also have a blog, fortybyfortyfitness.com about my goal to run 40 marathons or ultras before my 40th birthday. I also share training tips on my blog.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

I am running 7 marathons in 7 states on 7 consecutive days in October 2016 as a fundraiser for World Vision. All funds go to provide clean water in Africa.
