A quotation you like… |
We [run] together, the mountain and me, until only the mountain remains. |
Why do you run? |
Running is simple and makes sense. |
Describe your best marathon memory. |
My best memory was as a spectator – Meb Keflezighi running into Cleveland Circle with a 200m lead that I didn’t think he could hold. |
Why do you pace? |
To help other people believe they can meet their goals. I’ve been running within seconds of a goal, late in the marathon, my eyes glued to the back of a pacer. |
Tell us your best pacing experience. |
After the finish, watching people celebrate new PRs. |
Why should someone run in your pace group? |
I try to plan a good strategy for the race, and take most of the work when running into a head wind. |
Any tips for runners about to join your group? |
Don’t try anything new on race day. Settle into a comfortable pace by mile 2. Don’t expend any extra energy – save it for mile 22. |
Anything else you’d like to share? |
Race day is like Christmas – the payoff after long anticipation. |
What philanthropic activities do you have? |
I volunteer at a weekly dinner for medical students in Galveston. |
