A quotation you like…

Benjamin Franklin: “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”

Why do you run?

I love to be outside at all times of the year. Running allows me to breath in fresh air and clear my brain.

Describe your best marathon memory.

Marine Corp since it was my first marathon.

Why do you pace?

As an educator it is innate for me to help others. Many newer runners find a pacer to be helpful during events where they are working to hitting a specific pace goal. Additionally, I am very social. So I enjoy getting to know runners in the start corral where I can inquire about their goal for the day.

Tell us your best pacing experience.

The Pittsburgh Half Marathon because I always have runners who will stay with me for the entire event. Though it’s a smaller distance, the Fly By 5K at the airport is awesome.

Why should someone run in your pace group?

I’m a systematic, data focused runner. For my training and event runs, I always have targeted mileage and overall pace times. Because of this, I aim to hit even mile splits so that my targeted overall pace will be spot on.

Any tips for runners about to join your group?

As a people-pleaser, I hope those following me are happy because they did their best. Hopefully they’ll stay with me for the entire run and then bolt past me to beat me across the finish line. But, even if I get them to a targeted point in the event, that’s a win.

Anything else you’d like to share?

My running adventures started later in life. Since that time I have completed 52 half marathons and 12 full marathons. As a member of the P3R pace team I enjoy pacing their sponsored events including multiple 5K’s, 10-milers, and half’s. I’ve also paced for Wolf Creek timing company and coached cross country. Additionally, I am a member of the 50 States Half Marathon Club so I am working to run a half marathon in every state. Currently, I’ve completed 23 + Washington DC with 5 additional states on my calendar for this year.

What philanthropic activities do you have?

At this point, I do not have anything to add here other than my volunteer activities associated with running.
