A quotation you like…”Life moves pretty fast.  If you don’t stop and look around for a while, you could miss it.” - Ferris Bueller

Why do you run? Mostly for sanity, but burning calories helps since I love to eat and drink.

Describe your best marathon memory. - Just turning the corner at the finish line during my first Chicago marathon.

Why do you pace? I am pacing because my girlfriend Jen asked me to help out, but it is a great feeling helping other achieve their personal running goals.

Tell us your best pacing experience.  This is my first official pacing gig, but I have paced plenty of ultras.  I would say it was my most recent where I paced a friend from mile 65 to 95 at his Potowatomi 100 mile finish a couple weeks ago.  He was SO CLOSE to quitting, but I was able to keep him on course and he finally got it done after 2 previous DNFs on that course.  There was rain, thunder, lightning, hail, and plenty of mud.  But he finished..

Why should someone run in your pace group?  I have been running long distance for a while and have quite a bit of diverse experience and am full of useless knowledge to keep folks busy for a long time.

Any tips for runners about to join your group? Always stay ahead of hydration and nutrition.  Also, if its hot, make sure to stay ahead on salt intake to keep from cramping.

Anything else you’d like to share?

What philanthropic activities do you have? I frequently volunteer my time to aid station work at ultras.  I also donate to MS and ALS foundations.  I have also ran a race called the Worlds Longest Turkey Trot for ALS where we run 100 miles from Chicago to Milwaukee to raise money for ALS research.  I have done that run 5 times raising somewhere around $10K each time.
