Why do you run?
Running was initially used for my weight loss journey in late 2018 and at the time I couldn’t run for a minute. Determined, I set a goal to run a mile—no matter how long it would take me. It took me nearly three months to reach that first mile, and when I did, it was a moment of immense pride. I truly realized that I was stronger than I believed. I continue to run because it’s challenging: finding time in my busy schedule, weather, terrain. Overcoming these challenges builds character and inner strength, which is why I keep going!

Describe your best marathon memory.
The Philadelphia Marathon is my first marathon! That day will always remain very special to me and I would do anything to live this day again. My family came out to see me and I was so happy that I saw them in the large crowds by the finish line. And of course, the best way to end the marathon was to walk up the Rocky Steps and view the entire city at the top!

Why do you pace?
I love running in races, but at the same time I want to support my fellow runners. There are not many large races near my town, so it’s hard for me to be a spectator or a volunteer. Being a pacer satisfies my desire to run in the races, while also supporting my fellow runners. As a pacer, I get to provide support and encouragement to my squad during a grueling and challenging race!

Tell us your best pacing experience.
The first time I paced a marathon was in St. Louis, MO in 2025 for the 5:00 group! I genuinely was nervous and was about to drop out of the race since I had a hard time believing in myself. I have paced half marathons successfully, but a marathon is a different beast! I had a few pep talks with my fellow pacers, and I got my mind together! I’m happy that I didn’t back out and went through with the race, and I finished right on time! Tons of runners came up to me afterwards and thanked me for my encouragement and overall spirit! I definitely would love to relive this experience if I could turn back time!

Why should someone run in your pace group?
You know the phrase “Business in the front, party in the back”! My pace group will have fun one way or another! I can talk about nonsense for hours! |
Any tips for runners about to join your group?
Soak it all in and remember to have fun! You’re still a marathoner regardless of your time! |

Anything else you’d like to share? |
If you run, you are a runner! There is no size, time standard, distance standard, or age when it comes to running.
I have no plans of slowing down. Running, especially marathons, gives me a sense of accomplishment that few other things can. What I’ve come to appreciate about running is that it’s a sport for everyone. Unlike team sports such as basketball or volleyball, running is something you can do solo. Yet, you’re never truly alone—runners and supporters are all around you, making the journey more meaningful.
